Aviation Safety Assessor/System Safety Engineer

Achieving satisfactory aviation safety is therefore LFV's highest priority. Common to everything we work with is that it is largely governed by EU regulations, the Transport Agency, and ICAO. How LFV works with these regulations is summarized in our SMS (Safety Management System).
In aviation safety work, the Aviation Safety Unit is a central actor responsible for delivering aviation safety-related services. The unit is responsible for three areas of operation:
- Aviation safety assessments
- Regulations and methods
- Deviation reporting/Investigations
We currently have about 40 employees primarily in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, and Norrköping, and belong to the organization Common Services, which also includes procurement, facilities and services, finance, HR, payroll, training, communication, registration, and archives.
To continue contributing to aviation safety work in the best possible way, in a growing industry with many new challenges, we are now looking for an experienced Aviation Safety Assessor/System Safety Engineer.
About the position
In aviation safety work, it is important to look at the entire organization's functional systems consisting of:
- Technical systems
- Procedures/methods
- Personnel
It is also important to understand how the functional system exists and can affect the risk landscape in the business.
Your main task will be to perform risk and system safety analyses for changes that affect the functional system to ensure maintained or improved safety. This involves close collaboration with operational, technical, and other expertise primarily within LFV.
The range of your tasks is broad, and you may be involved in larger technical projects or in more focused operational projects of shorter or longer duration. It may also mean that some days you work with operational personnel and other days with technical experts.
Your tasks
- Conduct risk and system safety analyses.
- Represent aviation and system safety work in the projects you are responsible for or involved in.
- Develop, strengthen, and improve our processes and routines for risk and system safety analyses so that we can effectively and rationally manage changes with the highest possible aviation safety.
- Work to strengthen our safety culture by keeping yourself updated in the field and being an ambassador for the value of aviation safety assessments/system safety analyses throughout the organization.

Your profile
You have an engineering degree or other relevant education. It is an advantage if the education is specialized in system safety/risk management.
You have several years of documented work experience in system safety work for safety-critical technical equipment, preferably from sectors such as civil aviation, nuclear power, pharmaceuticals, or other authorities.
You possess a very good understanding of complex technical systems.
Meritorious
- Experience in aviation operational activities and/or aviation operational IT systems.
- Good knowledge of EASA regulations and the application of SMS in civil aviation.
- Good understanding of system management and technical processes.
You as a person
As a person, you possess pronounced critical thinking that you use pragmatically and guiding.
You enjoy collaborating and see it as an obvious success factor for achieving results.
You are structured and plan your work well but are not averse to needing to make adjustments during the work process. It is important that you can express yourself easily in speech and writing.
Taking responsibility for your own and your colleagues' results is a natural part of your daily work.
Additional information
The position of Aviation Safety Assessor is 100% and a permanent position based in Norrköping, Malmö, or Stockholm. Opportunities for remote work can be combined with time in the office.
Before employment, LFV conducts a security clearance that includes a background check, security interview, and drug test. This position requires Swedish citizenship.
